Borrowing
To find out which books, reports, journals and audio-visual materials we have in stock, please use SWIMS catalogue. Members may borrow up to 8 items.
Books are issued for up to 28 days and can be renewed twice. High demand items may be issued for 7 or 14 days with one renewal. There are fines of 50p per day on these high demand items. Renewals can be made via theSWIMS catalogue, in person, by phone or e-mail.
Journals may not be borrowed but individual articles may be photocopied for personal use. We also have access to 1000s of e-journals, see our journals page for details about access.
We encourage members to suggest books we should buy for our stock please contact yourHealthcare Library if you have a suggestion.
Photocopying
Self service photocopying is available in the Healthcare Library. Libraries charge 5p per A4 copy. Copy cards can be purchased from the issue counter or from the card machine where available.
Please note any photocopies made must not infringe the Copyright Law, a copy of which is to be found by the self service copying machine in the library. Further information and guidance can be found by following at CILIP information on Copyright, including ‘library privilege’ and ‘fair dealing’
Core members may complete a Make a request form for a copy of articles held at their local Healthcare Library.
Inter-library loans
Core members may request books and journal articles we do not have in stock using the Make a request form.
We will contact you as soon as your item arrives. Please ensure that we have the correct contact details for you.
Partner and external members are charged for this service, please see our charges page for details of prices. Students on placement are advised to contact their University Library for information about inter-library loans.
Study space
All libraries will have space for study..
Computers
All libraries have computers for members to use. Please contact your local Healthcare Library for information about how to login.
Knowledge Support Librarians
Every Core member has a named Knowledge Support Librarian to help you find information. They can provide you with training and perform literature searches for you.
